Optometry

A continuing education in optometry is a mandatory part of the profession. As one must be educated and pass state optometry exams to be licensed, all 50 states require continuing education credits for optometry license renewal. Continuing education is an important part of staying current with the latest developments and technologies in the field of optometry.

Optometry professionals have a number of resources available for continuing their education. Several colleges and universities offer courses and programs to adult students, both on-campus and online. These are designed specifically for those who work, so that they can take classes in evenings and on weekends.

Additionally, optometrists can attend seminars and workshops approved by organizations such as the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry's (ARBO) Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE) which count as continuing education credits.
